Judge Frederic Block, a 90-year-old federal judge in Brooklyn, is currently overseeing the high-profile case of Mexican drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, whom the White House labels as a leading cartel boss. Known for handling significant cases in his career, Block embraces the challenge without fear, even facing past death threats. Recently, he began performing stand-up comedy to foster unity in the divisive climate, performing under the name Judge Felix Schmeckler, showcasing his humor while tackling heavy judicial responsibilities.
Block, whose resume includes the Crown Heights riots murder of Yankel Rosenbaum and the infamous Queens killing of Kitty Genovese, is so unfazed, he’s doing stand-up comedy on the side.
"With cases, including this one, I don't walk around in fear..." said Judge Block, citing his past survival of multiple death threats.
Block declared during an interview, "It's probably the number one criminal case in the country," emphasizing the gravity of the Quintero case.
Comedy is 'the one thing that can bind us', the judge explained, reflecting on his new venture into stand-up to unify audiences.
