The NYC Council has announced a $4 million funding boost for arts education in public schools, an increase of $1 million from the previous year. This initiative, titled Support for Arts Instruction, aims to enhance the educational experiences of students across New York City. Key leaders, including Council Member Carlina Rivera, emphasized the importance of combining academic learning with the transformative power of arts education. Currently, 239 schools will benefit from this funding, allowing students to explore their creativity through various arts programs in collaboration with local organizations.
Every student in New York City deserves access to a high-quality education that includes the transformative power of the arts, said Council Member Rivera.
Through the Support for Arts Instruction initiative, we're not only enriching students' academic experiences but empowering them to develop creatively, socially, and emotionally.
The initiative currently supports 239 schools, each receiving a funding share of $16,527.
The project's essence lies in its mission to provide robust arts instruction, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to explore their creativity.
