Mayor Mamdani pledged to restart four stalled street redesign projects: offset bus lanes on Fordham Road, a two-way protected bike lane on Ashland Place, bike lanes on Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues, and a bike lane network in Flatbush and Midwood. The Fordham Road offset-lane plan was canceled in 2023 after opposition from business improvement districts and institutions such as Fordham University and the Bronx Zoo. The southernmost block of Ashland Place lost a bike lane last year, breaking a protected corridor from Sunset Park to DUMBO. Allegations of corruption affected prior decisions, with an Adams advisor charged over diluting a Greenpoint bike lane project.
