Zohran Mamdani attended a drag performance by Drag Race alum Plasma at the New York City AIDS Memorial on National Coming Out Day. An anti-LGBTQ+ influencer, Chaya Raichik of Libs of TikTok, shared a video of the performance and accused Mamdani of supporting "grooming," asserting that drag aims to teach children about alternate gender identities; no children were visible in the video. Mamdani's campaign held a "Gays for Zohran" event at the memorial. Mamdani said, "New York will not sit idly by while trans people are attacked" and, "We have to stand up for queer New Yorkers every single day." He also addressed criticism over a smiling photo taken earlier this year with Ugandan official Rebecca Kadaga.
