Harvey Weinstein Won't Testify In His Own Defense In NYC Sex Crimes Retrial; Jury Deliberations May Start Tuesday
Briefly

Harvey Weinstein's legal team has decided he will not testify in his current New York rape retrial, citing concerns that it could expose him to undue scrutiny. The decision comes after Weinstein had expressed a desire to take the stand in the past. The jury is expected to begin deliberations soon, as closing arguments are set to commence. Although not testifying, Weinstein has engaged in public relations activities, including a jail interview asserting his innocence, amidst multiple civil suits against him following serious allegations stemming from 2017.
He wanted to testify, and we respect that instinct. At this stage, doing so would subject him to scrutiny far beyond the scope of the current charges.
While not testifying Weinstein has been running a guerilla PR campaign of sorts during this retrial.
