'Morning Joe' host Joe Scarborough defended Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, criticizing Democrats for not accommodating her in leadership roles. He highlighted her significant public appeal and distinct ability to connect with voters, even those who supported Donald Trump. Scarborough's remarks, supported by Anand Giridharadas, underscore concerns that the Democratic Party is sidelining influential younger leaders like Ocasio-Cortez simply because of their age and progressive views, suggesting a disconnect between party leadership and the electorate's needs.
I don't think anybody that watches the show would confuse my politics with AOC's politics... I sit here, fairly conservative, independent, absolutely flummoxed by a Democratic Party that refuses to let her in leadership.
The fact that they're afraid to have the person who is considered in polls to be the voice and the face of the democratic party... she does a better job getting out there and explaining the inequities that drive working Americans to Republicans.
