Police in Queens fatally shot a knife-wielding man who lunged at them while holding a 14-inch blade. Officers responded to reports of the armed man in Astoria around 6:30 a.m. After attempting to subdue him with a Taser, the man charged at the officers with the knife. They fired several rounds, striking him. The suspect was later pronounced dead at Elmhurst General Hospital. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.

After officers unsuccessfully deployed a Taser, the suspect reportedly lunged at cops with the weapon, possibly a kitchen knife, according to law enforcement sources.
Several shots were fired at the man on the corner of 30th Avenue and 33rd Street, and the suspect was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he later died.
An investigation is ongoing.
