Newly-renovated NYCHA playgrounds will serve wider neighborhoods
Briefly

On June 2, Mayor Eric Adams and other officials celebrated the renovation of two playgrounds at Kingsborough Houses, enhancing nearly 36,000 square feet of community space. The renovations included new play equipment, game tables, benches, and improved public access. This project, part of a broader initiative, involved discussions with local residents to understand their needs. The playgrounds are designed for both NYCHA residents and the public, increasing access to parks for about 10,000 more New Yorkers. The initiative emphasizes revitalizing public spaces and engages local communities in the enhancement process.
The two agencies had met with residents... to best understand their needs, select specific locations for these transformations and help create the vision for their revitalized open spaces.
The city will also open the six playgrounds up for public use so that both NYCHA residents and the surrounding community can enjoy the public space, putting nearly 10,000 more New Yorkers within walking distance of a park.
