New York lawmakers, troubled by President Trump's actions affecting federal funding and workforce, are introducing a bill targeting Elon Musk's Buffalo Billion project. This legislation mandates an audit of the state’s $959 million investment in Tesla's solar panel and auto component factory. Lawmakers assert that the audit will seek to determine if Tesla is fulfilling job creation targets and other commitments. If the company is non-compliant, the state could impose penalties or terminate contracts, highlighting perceived hypocrisy in Musk’s government dealings.
It is the height of hypocrisy that Elon Musk, the man who is dismantling federal agencies and doing enormous damage on the basis of wildly unsubstantiated claims of waste, fraud and abuse, is the beneficiary of one of the biggest, shadiest subsidy deals of all time.
The bill would require an audit of the state subsidy deal to identify waste, fraud and abuse committed by private parties to the contract.
