A New York state lawmaker condemned the immigration system after a Venezuelan migrant was arrested for allegedly murdering 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman. Gorman was shot while walking with friends in Chicago. The suspect, a 25-year-old Venezuelan national, had entered the U.S. three years prior. State Assemblyman Matt Slater expressed gratitude to law enforcement for the arrest but emphasized the need for immigration reform, stating that the system is failing to protect innocent citizens from violence.
