NYC DOT Launches Redesign Of Conduit Avenue In Brooklyn, Queens
Briefly

The NYC Department of Transportation has initiated a community study aimed at redesigning Conduit Avenue, a critical artery linking Brooklyn and Queens, to enhance safety and reduce traffic accidents. The area has witnessed over 40 severe injuries and five fatalities in the last five years. Residents face perilous conditions due to heavy traffic and insufficient pedestrian infrastructure. The upcoming community workshops invite local input on safety improvements, building on existing measures like speed limits and pedestrian signals, to create a more inclusive and secure environment for all users of the Conduit.
"Brooklyn and Queens Residents deserve a Conduit Boulevard that improves daily life, not a roadway that puts pedestrians and drivers at risk and physically divides entire neighborhoods," NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said.
"Now is the time to let your voice be heard, at community workshops this month, we want to hear what New Yorkers think The Conduit should look like, and how it should serve our communities."
The study will build on the agency's prior safety efforts along the Conduit, with public workshops set to begin on June 10.
Over the past five years on the Conduit, there have been more than 40 severe injuries and five traffic deaths.
