Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy expressed concerns about New York City's subway system, labeling it dangerous. During a Fox News appearance, he addressed the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's claims about decreased crime and increased ridership. Duffy noted that while pickpocketing has declined, assaults have risen by 66% since 2019. He criticized policies like congestion pricing, arguing they lead to the creation of bike lanes at the expense of road lanes, worsening congestion. He specifically targeted liberal policies as detrimental to the lives of New Yorkers.
I'm laughing, but it's not funny. So if you include the pickpocketers in those stats, yes, pickpocketers might have gone down. But assaults have gone up, to your point, Emily, by 66% since 2019. It's dangerous to ride the subway in New York.
By the way, when they talk about congestion pricing, when they say it's working, it's working because they're raising money. That's because they're taking roads for buses and for cars, and they're making them bike lanes. So when you take away lanes, you get more congestion.
It's just stupid liberals with stupid policies that impact the lives of New Yorkers.
