The New York Editorial Board is picking up where The New York Times left off
Briefly

The New York Editorial Board, founded by Ben Smith and other experienced local journalists, aims to inform voters during the mayoral race by conducting open interviews with candidates like Jim Walden. Instead of making endorsements, the board publishes full transcripts and audio of candidate discussions to empower readers. This initiative arose in response to The New York Times' decision to cease local election endorsements, reflecting a collective effort to encourage public engagement and transparency in local politics.
"Let me articulate the plan," said Walden, an independent candidate in this year's New York mayoral race. "The plan is to have planning around creating incentives for drivers to get out of their cars."
"We're sort of an Occupy Wall Street-style collective," Smith told me. Smith had the idea for the editorial board after The New York Times announced it would no longer make endorsements in local elections."
