U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a civil lawsuit against New York officials concerning the state's Green Light Law, which allows undocumented immigrants access to driver's licenses. Bondi argues that the law obstructs federal immigration enforcement and violates the Constitution's supremacy clause. In her political press conference, she emphasized that prioritizing illegal immigrants over citizens must cease immediately. The lawsuit, targeting Governor Kathy Hochul and other officials, claims that the state law's provisions hinder federal efforts to manage illegal immigration effectively.
"New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today," she said.
"By intent and design, the Green Light Law is a frontal assault on the federal immigration laws, and the federal authorities that administer them."
