Victrix marked the grand opening of its 253-unit Livewell Apartments in the former GNC headquarters at 550 Wood St., reflecting a strategic investment in Downtown Pittsburgh's housing. Acquired for $9.4 million in September 2021, the 14-story building features apartments with contemporary amenities, including coworking spaces and a fitness center, while also providing retail options on the ground level. The development aligns with a city initiative to increase the population density in the Golden Triangle aiming to double it to 15,000 residents by 2026, supported by a broader $600 million revitalization project.
Each new development brings the city closer to its collective and ambitious goal to double [the Golden Triangle's] residential population to 15,000, says Jeremy Waldrup, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership president and CEO.
Victrix bought the 14-story, 314,000-square-foot building for $9.4 million in September 2021, with construction commencing in early 2023 following its transformation into residential apartments.
Rent is market rate, ranging from about $1,500 to $3,800, catering to a variety of resident needs with studio to three-bedroom options available.
The building, designed by architect Daniel Burnham, was converted as part of a broader $600 million initiative to boost Downtown housing and public spaces.
