"I was like, 'Man, what is this?'"
"He does a meatball award,"
"I heard they're pretty fire."
Vic Fangio, a 67-year-old defensive coordinator, leads the Philadelphia Eagles' dominant defense and returned to Philadelphia after a six-decade coaching career that began in 1979 at Dunmore High School. Fangio has coached at 10 NFL franchises and has overseen the Eagles' most dominant defense over the past two years. Fangio uses a meatball tradition—once gifting defensive tackle Jalen Carter a dish of meatballs over pasta in a brown paper bag—that surprised veteran Brandon Graham. Fangio values family, food, golf and the Philadelphia Phillies, and his grandparents' Castiglione, Italy, meatball recipe was passed down through his mother Alice.
