"Initially, I was shocked,"
"It helps our team,"
Odafe Oweh was traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Los Angeles Chargers along with a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for safety Alohi Gilman and a 2026 fifth-round pick. The trade occurred after the Ravens declined to offer Oweh a contract extension and five games into the season. Oweh learned of the trade while driving home after leaving the Ravens' practice facility following a team meeting, flew to Los Angeles that night, and arrived at the Chargers' practice facility the next morning. Oweh will change his uniform number from 51 to 98 and is expected to help generate pass-rush pressure in the absence of injured Khalil Mack. Chargers GM Joe Hortiz coordinated the deal with coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Mack is on injured reserve and eligible to return Oct. 19.
