Kenny Pickett was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round NFL Draft pick. Raiders coach Pete Carroll pursued Pickett after Aidan O'Connell suffered a fractured wrist to provide an experienced alternative to rookie Cam Miller behind starter Geno Smith. Pickett was a 2022 first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers and had subsequent stints with the Eagles and Browns, making 25 starts in Pittsburgh with a 15-10 record. The Raiders waived 14 players and released several veterans while Carroll emphasized the importance of game experience for backups. The Raiders open their season at New England.
