Mack: Herbert shouldn't shoulder weight of loss
"He wants to win. He wants to be great for us and this organization," Mack said. "And we all want to be great for him. And he's not in it alone. He's not in it by hisself."
"putting everything on his shoulders."
After the Chargers' 16-3 playoff loss to the Patriots, quarterback Justin Herbert said he was unsure when his first playoff victory will come and appeared somber. Veteran linebacker Khalil Mack said he hopes Herbert stops "putting everything on his shoulders" and urged Herbert to reflect on how great a player he is, reminding him he is not alone. Herbert completed 19 of 31 passes for 159 yards with no touchdowns and led the team with 57 rushing yards. Herbert did not appear in the locker room during the media-access period. Mack has lost all six of his playoff appearances, will consider his football future and reiterated a desire to retire a champion while entering free agency.
