Lenny Krieg, a 22-year-old kicker from Berlin, has transitioned from soccer to American football. He was not officially invited to the NFL combine but stole the spotlight with a 55-yard kick. After playing in the European League of Football, he joined the International Player Pathway, competing successfully against American kickers at the combine, where he went 14 for 14 in field goals, prompting interest from several teams.
"I didn't want to get into this whole collision stuff" Krieg said, so he started teaching himself how to kick a football via Youtube tutorials and Instagram, searching "how to kick a field goal."
Krieg caught the attention of multiple teams in the stadium when he went toe to toe with the American kickers Wednesday afternoon, and a perfect 14 of 14 field goals, from distances including 55 yards.
