Vince Young's rise to college football legend began at Ohio State
Briefly

Months before he raced past the Rose Bowl pylon for Texas' first national championship in 35 years, Vince Young scrawled a whiteboard challenge: "If you want to beat Ohio State, meet me on the practice field at 7 tonight." He grew frustrated with teammates skipping workouts and slouching in meetings and demanded accountability to avoid complacency. The 2005 Longhorns had 11 wins in 2004 but Young insisted winning in Columbus would be necessary for a title. After his message, no players missed a summer workout, including the voluntary practice that night. Teammates called the response a complete turnaround, and opponents called Young "Superman." He finished as the Heisman runner-up.

"Guys were coming in, feeling themselves," Young said. "But that type of character was going to get your ass whooped by Ohio State. We needed to button it up and get to work."
"It was a complete turnaround," said running back Selvin Young, Vince Young's roommate.
