Tyler Seguin shares his emotions about being left off the 2014 Olympic team, acknowledging the disappointment and how it has affected his view of his hockey career. At just 21, he felt invincible, believing more chances would come. As he approaches 1,000 NHL games, with numerous accolades, he now grapples with the reality of never competing at the Olympics. Seguin expresses a sense of lingering bitterness and regrets, particularly regarding opportunities missed in his younger years, yet he still finds joy in his career achievements.
But there will always be a gap in that resume. He'll never be an Olympian. He knows that now.
You think you have another chance. Then all of a sudden, it's 2025 and you realize you don't have another chance.
I'm still bitter about not making the World Juniors, that's always bothered me. As far as the Olympics, I don't know.
I was able to live vicariously through him, and that took the edge off a lot, Seguin said.
