Rangers recall Brett Berard - Blue Seat Blogs
"An illness is working its way through the Rangers locker room, forcing them to play with 11 forwards and 7 defenseman in last night's loss in Nashville. This mystery illness led to both Gabe Perreault and Matt Rempe to miss the game, forcing the Rangers to play shorthanded. To combat this, the Rangers have recalled Brett Berard to balance out the lineup. JT Miller, out with an upper body injury, has been placed on IR to make roster space."
"Berard had been with the team for most of November into December, but was returned to Hartford when the Rangers recalled both Perreault and Brennan Othmann. At the time there was some outrage over his return to Hartford, but it was unwarranted as he was one of two forwards who could be reassigned without waivers, and the Rangers couldn't afford to wait for waivers at that time. Now Berard is back as expected, but perhaps not for the reason we expected."
An illness spread through the Rangers' locker room, reducing available players and forcing the team to play with 11 forwards and seven defensemen in the Nashville loss. Gabe Perreault and Matt Rempe missed the game due to the illness, creating a short-handed roster. The Rangers recalled Brett Berard to restore lineup balance. JT Miller was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury to open a roster spot. Berard had been with the team from November into December before being returned to Hartford when Perreault and Brennan Othmann were recalled. Berard's reassignment had been procedural because he was one of two forwards exempt from waivers.
