
Khyiris Tonga, the Patriots’ top run-stopper and defensive-line anchor, signed a one-year prove-it deal last offseason and earned a long-term role. Other teams, including the Chiefs, offered him a hefty contract the Patriots did not match. Mike Vrabel said the Patriots wanted to re-sign Tonga but he “had a better offer.” The Patriots face the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 15 and could meet again in the playoffs. Vrabel expressed confidence that Leonard Taylor, Corey Durden, and Josh Farmer can step into Tonga’s role, giving overlooked linemen a chance to define their 2026 roster roles.
