The Asian Wave Alliance is encouraging ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo to run for mayor, believing he would bring common sense to the Democratic primary. The group emphasizes issues like education, public safety, and quality of life, reflecting concerns from the Asian American community in New York City. A meeting held with Cuomo highlighted topics such as merit-based education and crime policies. Despite not officially endorsing him, AWA seeks to influence elections, as many Asian voters have leaned toward Republicans amid dissatisfaction with the Democratic platform.
Andrew Cuomo would probably be the most common-sense candidate in the Democratic primary, said Asian Wave Alliance President Yiatin Chu.
In these challenging times, we need leaders who have a record of proven experience, accomplishments, and have a genuine commitment to their constituents which includes Asian New Yorkers, said Donghui Zang.
