A bus monitor, Amanda Davila, was convicted of child endangerment after failing to monitor a disabled 6-year-old girl, Fajr Williams, who tragically died in July 2023.
The jury's split verdict found Davila guilty of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, reflecting a more lenient stance as she was acquitted of manslaughter.
Fajr Williams’ mother, Najmah Nash, expressed that she felt a sense of relief from the verdict while still mourning the loss of her daughter due to neglectful supervision.
Defense attorney Michael Policastro stated that the outcome of the trial was fair, leaving the courtroom after nearly two days of jury deliberation regarding Davila's actions.
