Mayor Zohran Mamdani immediately repealed all executive orders issued by former Mayor Eric Adams following Adams' indictment, including Executive Order 61. Executive Order 61 had ordered the NYPD to step up protection for Jewish places of worship amid rising anti-Semitic attacks. Several of the repealed orders had also functioned as barriers to Mamdani's agenda while addressing community safety. National Jewish Advocacy Center director Mark Goldfeder described the deletion of tweets and executive orders addressing Jewish protection as deeply disturbing. Major media outlets reported on the repeal and noted Mamdani simultaneously signed executive orders targeting housing issues such as free buses, universal childcare, and rent freezes for rent-stabilized units.
