Driver crashes into Chabad Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn: NYPD
"The crash took place around 8:46 p.m. at 770 Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights section of the borough. A 2012 Honda Accord sedan was found mounted on the sidewalk at the scene, which struck the building, according to officials. The driver struck the rear door of the building once, and then reversed the car in order to ram the door a second time, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch shared at a press conference on Wednesday."
"Law enforcement sources told News 4 that a person is in custody, and that the vehicle at the scene had New Jersey plates. The NYPD's bomb squad inspected the vehicle with a full sweep, in which no explosives were found. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. This is being investigated as a hate crime by the NYPD, Tisch said. Out of abundance of caution, police have also escalated security around houses of worship across the five boroughs."
