"Some might call it routine response, but his loss is a stark reminder that there is no such thing as a routine call in this line of work. Every response carries a risk and every member of the FDNY answers that call of courage,"
"[He] came from a family of firefighters - all dedicated to protecting the lives of their fellow New Yorkers. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to his wife, Kara, and his entire family during this difficult time."
"[He] was a dedicated public servant, and firefighting was in his blood. We are thinking of his family, friends, and fellow members as we join them in mourning this immense loss."
A New York City firefighter, Patrick Brady, 42, died after suffering a medical episode while battling a fire in East Flatbush. The FDNY responded with an all-hands call to 9407 Kings Highway after residents reported a sixth-floor fire that woke them. Brady went into cardiac arrest on the roof and was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had 11 years with the department and transferred to Ladder 120 in Brownsville in 2022. He is survived by his wife, Kara, and multiple FDNY family members. Two civilians and another firefighter sustained minor injuries, and city and department leaders expressed condolences and praise for his sacrifice.
