First day of massive Queens bus network redesign goes off mostly glitch-free in Flushing
Briefly

The Queens bus network redesign launched on June 29, marking a significant change for local transit. Phase 1 focuses on routes in Eastern Queens and Ridgewood, introducing new services such as an updated Q12 bus route that now runs along Northern Boulevard. The redesign, which is the first overhaul since the 1950s, aims to adapt the network to meet current rider needs, with a $33.7 million annual investment covering 124 routes. Riders appeared largely unfazed by the changes as they adjusted to the new system.
The Queens bus network redesign is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be able to do things right for Queens riders and we are excited to launch the first and biggest portion of the redesign, said Demetrius Chrichlow, NYC Transit president.
