The MTA's Spring Customers Count survey aims to gather honest feedback from riders about their commuting experiences, which is crucial for making necessary improvements to the transit system.

Irish Rail took in more than €15m in parking fees from motorists, while also clamping nearly 4,300 cars at its stations over the last two years.

"We've always thought that it would be great if we could have a space where we could rest or get a coffee when we are working," said Gustavo Ajche, highlighting the long-standing need for a dedicated area for delivery workers.

With just a single tap, subway and bus customers now have access to real-time arrivals at the stops closest to them, along with live positioning of the nearest trains and buses, clearer station layouts, and better transfer information.

"This recognition is a testament to the talent, dedication, and 'can-do' spirit of the professional staff on the NYS Department of Transportation's team," Commissioner Dominguez said. "From bridge strikes in the capital region to catastrophic flooding in the Adirondacks, our team members work tirelessly to restore traffic and critical infrastructure-safely and quickly-with modern and resilient structures along these vital corridors within New York State."

Disgruntled travellers were quick to point out that half the time you "can't even hear what the conductor says" between busted speakers and crackling audio transmissions, while some expressed concern that "condition[ing] riders to ignore audio messages" could pose a safety risk when it comes to emergency announcements.

The Redbirds trace their origins to 1959, with the debut of the R26, the first of nine closely related subway car types that became synonymous with New York's transit system.

The MTA is replacing aging trains that have been running since the 1980s. More than 2,300 subway cars will be purchased, replacing nearly a third of the current subway fleet.
