'I think there's a bit of mischief going on' -Micheal Martin says rumour of 15 pension hike is 'spin'

Micheál Martin emphasized that the proposed 12-euro pension hike has been set since the Summer Economic Statement, denying any prior discussions about a 15-euro increase.

He stated, "Genuinely, I think there's been a bit of mis-spin here, a bit of mischief going on," indicating frustration over reports that seemed to misrepresent discussions.

During a press conference, Martin said, "There was never a 15 euro (rise) tabled ever at any meeting I attended," clarifying that such proposals were not officially discussed.

He expressed confusion over the media reports, saying, "I'm bemused by newspaper reports of a potential 15-euro hike in the pension," and questioned the source of misinformation.
