Lost Dog? A Pet Detective and His Thermal Drone Are on the Case
Briefly

Chad Tavernia, founder of North Country Drone Search & Recovery, utilizes drones to find missing pets in New York. Recently, he helped locate Aurora, a puppy that had escaped into snowy woods, after a couple called for assistance. With his thermal-imaging drone, Tavernia found Aurora in a cornfield about 3.5 miles away, successfully guiding the couple to her. Tavernia's service primarily specializes in missing dogs, with a notable record of finding 42 dogs within the last year, showcasing the effective use of technology in pet recovery.
After about 90 minutes, the drone detected a heat signal in a cornfield nearly 3.5 miles away. It was Aurora, an American bully-golden retriever mix, nestled deep in the snow.
Most of the calls Mr. Tavernia receives are for missing dogs, he said, but there have been some calls for missing cats, too. In the past year, he has found 42 dogs.
