Minnesota man 'tortured' in 'depraved' killing by five attackers in upstate New York motel: Police
Briefly

Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old transgender man, was brutally tortured for over a month in a New York motel before being murdered by five alleged attackers. The authorities described the abuse as horrific, involving beatings with various objects and severe psychological torment. Family members became concerned when they lost contact with Nordquist, prompting them to raise funds for a search. A missing persons investigation led to the discovery of the crime and subsequent arrests. All five suspects are charged with second-degree murder and are facing serious legal consequences.
"In my 20-year law enforcement career, this is one of the most horrific crimes I have ever investigated," Swift said.
Nordquist suffered "physical and psychological abuse" as well as "repeated acts of torture and violence" that ultimately led to his death.
Authorities launched a missing persons investigation on Feb. 9, and on Thursday, cops discovered a "deeply disturbing pattern of abuse" at the motel.
Nordquist traveled to New York in September and had been staying at Patty's Lodge motel with Precious Arzuaga.
