Police in Brooklyn are searching for two women accused of assaulting MTA employee Marshalee Reid at New Lots Avenue subway station on June 28. Reid was on the mezzanine when the first woman jumped a turnstile, and when Reid confronted her, a second woman joined the attack. They punched Reid multiple times and struck her with keys, causing facial injuries. Reid was recovering from brain surgery and was hospitalized in stable condition. The Transport Workers Union criticized MTA leadership for inadequate support and urged for more police presence in high-risk areas.
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on June 28, an MTA employee at New Lots Ave. subway station was assaulted by two women after confronting one who jumped a turnstile.
The assault occurred while the MTA worker, Marshalee Reid, was on restricted duty recovering from brain surgery, and she was punched multiple times and struck with keys.
Following the incident, EMS transported Reid to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.
Transport Workers Union President John Chiarello criticized MTA leadership for a lack of response to the assault and called for increased police presence to protect workers.
