Senior LI power couple, dog dedicate retirement to helping Nassau kids
Briefly

Vic and Judie Horowitz, a senior couple from Oceanside, have dedicated their retired lives to volunteering at SIBSPlace in Nassau County for the past 20 years, providing joy to children whose families are facing serious illnesses. They engage children through games, storytelling, and even dress in costumes, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. Their adorable therapy dog, Daisy, adds to the joy, helping children improve their reading skills. Vic and Judie see their contributions as a way of giving back, celebrating the fortunate lives they've lived.
"We've become like their grandparents," Judie, a former artist, told The Post. "Sometimes I bump into them in the supermarket, and we stand there hugging each other."
"Basically, we've been fortunate and blessed in our lives," Vic told The Post. 'When we retired, we felt that we were obligated to give something back - and we had the time to do it."
Vic joked, "They get more excited to see her than us." The pooch is so popular that she has her own business cards.
The Horowitzes dress up in Halloween costumes, play games, tell stories of their younger days, help with homework, and do tons more behind-the-scenes.
