Ahmet Gashi, 42, was charged with murder after allegedly running over professional boxer Kemal Kolenovic in a 2006 incident that left Kolenovic dead.
Gashi reportedly drove his SUV onto the sidewalk during a bar fight, accidentally hitting Kolenovic, who was uninvolved in the altercation and later died.
After the fatal incident, Gashi fled to the Balkans, evading capture for 18 years before being apprehended by Serbian police.
Kolenovic, a 28-year-old boxer from Montenegro, was killed following a violent dispute outside a bar, highlighting the tragic outcome of a senseless argument.
