"Yes - my party will continue to canvas for him," Mr Harris insisted, affirming their support for Senator John McGahon during the launch of the party's General Election manifesto.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee confirmed: "Senator McGahon was before a criminal court with a jury of his peers. In that trial, all the evidence was seen, was heard, was presented."
Mr Harris remarked on the court's decision, stating, "A jury found him not guilty (of assault), and all matters were examined in a court of law."
Breen White, who suffered injuries in the incident, claimed that if the Taoiseach saw the injuries, he would retract support for McGahon, highlighting the controversial nature of the case.
