The Tooting Four, who protested in April against Mayor Sadiq Khan, continue to claim their innocence, calling their verdict a setback for free speech in the UK.
District judge Daniel Sternberg stated the protest was loud and included offensive language, occurring approximately 100 metres from the mayor's residence and causing potential distress to neighbors.
Despite the mayor's absence during the protest, the judge emphasized that the law only requires that a protest could likely cause alarm or distress to warrant action.
Nick Arlett, found more culpable, was fined 1,310, while the other three protesters were each ordered to pay 960 for their roles in the protest.
