Tories took 5m from Hester days before election called

The Conservative Party accepted a further £5m donation from businessman Frank Hester shortly after he was accused of making racist remarks about Labour MP Diane Abbott.
In March, claims emerged that Mr Hester told staff Ms Abbott made him 'want to hate all black women' and suggested 'she should be shot.'
Despite significant accusations of racism, former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak deemed Hester's comments 'racist' but stated the party would not return the donation.
Mr Hester stated his previous comments about Diane Abbott were 'rude' but insisted they 'had nothing to do with her gender nor color of skin.'
