Organizers prepared the Times Square New Year's Eve celebration by testing the new Constellation Ball and running confetti and ball-drop rehearsals. The Constellation Ball, unveiled Nov. 24, will be illuminated and raised to the 139-foot pole atop One Times Square on Dec. 30 for final checks before the Dec. 31 countdown. Multicolored confetti and airdrop tests were conducted Dec. 29 to verify the release of 3,000 pounds of confetti containing people's New Year wishes. A ball-drop run-through will begin at 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 30, and the main celebration will start at 6 p.m. ET on Dec. 31.
