"New York City is an expensive city. Frankly it is a city that we can't afford,"
"That is one of the many reasons I am standing here today to throw my full support behind Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani to be the next mayor."
"only succeed in City Hall at building a more affordable New York City, at restoring the peoples' trust in a democracy, and in making our city worthy of the great people who call it home, if I am surrounded by great leaders and advisors myself."
"leadership reflects the values we hold close: uplifting the marginalized, fighting for equity, and building a city where every person has the chance to thrive."
Bishop Orlando Findlayter, pastor of an East Flatbush congregation, endorsed Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani for mayor, citing Mamdani's commitment to making New York City more affordable. Findlayter was influential in mobilizing African-American support for Bill de Blasio in 2013 and had backed Andrew Cuomo in the June 28 Democratic primary, which Mamdani won by nearly 13 percentage points. Mamdani is polling as the favorite for the Nov. 4 general election against Cuomo, now running as an independent, and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Findlayter's backing could help Mamdani gain support from Black, socially conservative Democrats.
