Recently, two separate boat fires in New Jersey and Westchester led to tragic outcomes, including two fatalities and three injuries. In Newark, firefighters responded to a fire at around 8:45 p.m. that trapped two women on a burning boat. Hours later, a larger blaze occurred at a marina in New Rochelle, affecting several boats and prompting emergency medical assistance for two individuals. On scene, authorities are coordinating efforts to manage environmental hazards caused by the fires while the investigations into the causes are still pending.
Raging fires engulfed boats in New Jersey and Westchester in separate incidents overnight that saw two people dead and three hospitalized, according to officials.
An adult male was also taken to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in stable condition following the blaze, which started on one of two boats that were parked side-by-side on trailers.
Both victims were taken to Jacobi Hospital where their condition is unknown, he said. A total of seven boats were destroyed.
