St. John's Reacts to Historic Rick Pitino Announcement
Briefly

St. John's University, under head coach Rick Pitino, enjoyed a remarkable season, culminating in a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a Big East Tournament championship. Pitino, now in his second year with the Red Storm, achieved personal recognition as the Naismith Coach of the Year for the first time in his extensive coaching career. Although the team celebrated its conference success, it faced disappointment with a second-round exit from the NCAA Tournament at the hands of Arkansas, following a win over Omaha in the first round.
For the first time in his legendary career, Coach Pitino has been named the 2025 Werner Ladder Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year.
It was a year for the history books. Congrats on an incredible season Coach!! Big East Regular Season and Tournament Champions.
