Brandon Nimmo finally returned to left field for the Mets after facing right knee soreness that limited his spring training. He expressed satisfaction in making progress, as he had previously appeared as the designated hitter in three games. Resting his knee and managing his training workload, Nimmo seemed optimistic about his recovery, indicating he is at about 90% speed and feels positive about being ready for Opening Day. Additionally, Jesse Winker avoided serious injury with a calf cramp, and Ryan Clifford's performance at Spring Training was noted with a home run.
"I have just been trying to listen to [the knee] and it has been really good the last few days," Nimmo said, referring to the improvement noticed with his knee injury.
"Where I'm at I am pretty optimistic we're on more the downhill side of this," Nimmo mentioned, indicating hope for a full recovery before Opening Day.
