Ben Rice appears to have avoided the worst after Yankees injury scare
Briefly

Yankees' designated hitter Ben Rice is recovering after suffering a hit to his left elbow during a game against the Rays. Initial concerns were alleviated with negative X-rays and a CT scan, showing no significant damage. Rice experienced some stiffness and swelling but felt better the next day, providing optimism for a quick return to the lineup. Manager Aaron Boone echoed this sentiment, suggesting Rice could be back for the next series in Cleveland, depending on his daily progress. Meanwhile, they adjusted the lineup accordingly for the game against the Rays.
Quite a bit better," manager Aaron Boone said before the series finale at Steinbrenner Field. "I think he's in pretty good spirits after being a little concerned [Saturday].
But he was still pretty stiff and sore [Saturday], still a little bit today. But when I talked to him, he was smiling and felt like he was quite a bit better.
Hopefully [it will] be something that's not too long," Boone said.
Rice said Saturday night he expected to be day-to-day.
