Yankees 4, Rangers 9: Bullpen falters to split doubleheader
Briefly

The Yankees' bullpen was torched for 8 runs on 10 hits, turning a close, competitive game into one that was decidedly not that. It was yet another example of a game the Yankees have played far too many times in the last couple months, as they fell to the Rangers, 9-4.
Gerrit Cole got the start and looked pretty impressive, allowing just one run, while striking out a season-high 10 batters. Once he left though, things went south in a hurry.
While Cole had to strand a couple runners in the first two innings, he allowed the Yankees to take the lead when they then struck in the second. Following up on his home run in the first game, Jazz Chisholm Jr., got the second one off to a good start with a single and a stolen base.
