Asteroid that eradicated dinosaurs not a one-off, say scientists
Briefly

Researchers suggest that the massive asteroid impact at the end of the Cretaceous period was not a singular event, as another large asteroid likely struck Earth around the same time.
The recent discovery of the Nadir crater reveals that a violent impact from an asteroid around a quarter of a mile wide produced a crater more than five miles across.
Scientist Dr Uisdean Nicholson highlighted the uniqueness of this finding by stating, 'None of the around 20 confirmed marine craters worldwide has been captured in anything close to this level of detail.'
The impact of the asteroid caused significant geological consequences, including intense tremors, liquefied sediments, and a devastating tsunami that would have swept across the Atlantic.
