Dinosaur tracks uncovered at site of Bonnie Prince Charlie's refuge
Briefly

Researchers have discovered fossilized dinosaur footprints at Prince Charles's Point on the Isle of Skye, a route tied to Bonnie Prince Charlie's post-Culloden escape. The footprints, used by both megalosaurs and sauropods, indicate these dinosaurs cohabitated a shallow freshwater lagoon approximately 167 million years ago. The discovery, identified through drone technology and subsequent 3D modeling, presents critical mid-Jurassic insights and shows how these dinosaurs interacted. The rarity of such rocks enhances the significance of the site for understanding dinosaur evolution during this period.
The newly discovered impressions at Prince Charles's Point reveal that megalosaurs and sauropods gathered at the site when it was a freshwater lagoon.
It's surprising they haven't been found until now. The most striking footprints are about 45cm long and belong to the three-toed megalosaur.
