Doctor asked for antibiotics eight times - inquest
Briefly

William Hewes, a 22-year-old, died at Homerton University Hospital following a delay in administering antibiotics for his meningitis-induced sepsis. His mother, Dr Deborah Burns, a hospital staff member, raised concerns eight times about the lack of antibiotics before they were finally given more than an hour after his arrival. The inquest revealed that communication errors among medical staff contributed to the delay. Dr Burns expressed distress over her son's treatment, indicating he was left unmonitored in resuscitation and that his care did not improve in ICU until it was too late.
I believe [antibiotics] were only given when they were because I was there. I raised concern about the lack of antibiotics eight times before they were administered.
I became desperate and tried to squeeze some of the paracetamol through in order to free up the canula. I was not told when antibiotics were finally administered.
